Mark McCarthy’s practice includes foreign and domestic patent prosecution in the fields of software, electronics, and finance.


During his tenure at Osha Liang, Mr. McCarthy has been involved in the drafting and prosecution of hundreds of patent applications in the technical areas of touchpads and touchscreens, optical networks, cache coherency protocols, printers and image rendering engines, tax preparation and accounting software, social networking, wireless access points, networking, and oilfield simulation.  Example patent application titles include: Broadcast Protocol for a Network of Caches, Time Division Multiplexing Based Arbitration for Shared Optical Links, Data Transmission Using Direct and Indirect Optical Paths, Implementing a Multistage Network using a Two-Dimensional Array of Tiles, Simple Fairness Protocols for Daisy Chain Interconnects, and Consumer-Directed Financial Transfers using Automated Clearinghouse Networks.

Prior to joining Osha Liang, Mr. McCarthy’s undergrad research was directed towards the design and implementation of a 4G mobile cellular system.  His graduate research was directed towards image registration using B-spline curves.
